Shirley Miller Olsen

December 19, 1939 — January 19, 2020

Shirley passed away on Sunday, January 19th surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 19, 1939 in Duchesne Utah. She moved to Salt Lake City where she met and married Bruce Allen Olsen on May 21, 1958. They had two daughters and now have 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Each generation more loved than the last.

Shirley is survived by her daughters Kathy (Tom McCrary) and Pam Miller; her sister Nancy (Craig Hofeling); her grandchildren, Crystal (Dan Bolton), Candice McCrary, Trade Barnett (Jacklyn) Chase McCrary, Lane Barnett (Britni), Tanner Barnett, Bryan McCrary (Tina); her great-grandchildren, Deirdre, Jayden, Madison, Connor, Aiden, Rylee, Adilynn, Pyper, Luke and Myles; and her great-great-grandson, Kayson; as well as 3 sister-in-laws; several nieces and nephews; and all that she took in as her “kids” and wouldn’t have it any other way. She was everyone’s Aunt or Grandma Shirley.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Olsen; her parents, Butch and Erma Miller; and brothers, Jim and Denis Miller.

If you know Shirley, you no doubt sat at her kitchen table and shared a cup of coffee, saw her frog collection and had several laughs with her. She loved to have a visit and loved just about everyone she knew. She was funny, sassy, stubborn, independent, and the strongest woman most will ever know. She took care of everyone, and everyone knew that she would be there for them in any way that she could be.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 24th from 10-11 AM at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Graveside services will follow at Strawberry Cemetery at 1:30 PM. (US Highway 40 - 4.7 miles west of Duchesne)

Shirley was so loved and made such an impact on so many lives. Our family will be holding an open house celebration of her life on Sunday, January 26th at her home in Salt Lake City from 1 o’clock until 4 PM. We would love for friends and family to stop by and share a story and a laugh with us as we remember all the great times.
