Nellie M Benavidez

April 6, 1938 — December 6, 2020

Nellie M. Benavidez, 82 years old of West Valley City, Utah, passed away in the evening of Sunday, December 6, 2020. She passed at home surrounded by her loving family. Nellie was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado as the daughter of Ursineo and Margarita Ramos. She had two siblings, her elder sister Ramona Ramos and her younger brother, Leno Ramos.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gilbert L. Benavidez; her sister; her six children and their spouses: Joann and Brad Goldberg, Rosemarie Benavidez, Sherry and Ron Miller, Gilbert and Tammy Benavidez, Florence Gregory, Paul and Angie Benavidez; her 13 grandchildren: Frankie Sanchez, Janet Luker, Eric Goldberg, Roland Miller, Bailey Sanchez, Gilbert Miller, Chelsea Benavidez, Margarita Goldberg, Uresino Benavidez, Marcus Benavidez, Jake Benavidez, and Tayler Benavidez; her 5 great-grandchildren: Hannah, Mandie, Aubrielle, Cache, and Caelyn.

Our mother put up a valiant fight and it pained her deeply to leave her family behind. She would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a Heavenly call from her parents; an offer this time she could not refuse.

A woman who never yelled, but was our defender and biggest supporter through life. She created a strong caring and loving family that will always hold each other tight. “Mom, Grandma, Great-grandma, rest in peace. Know that we will always love you.”

As her husband would say, she was the rock in all our lives; steady and firm with a loving hand. We will truly miss her.
