Delsa Durfee Wilson

March 14, 1931 — July 24, 2019

Delsa Wilson, 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by family early on July 24, 2019. Born on March 14, 1931, she was the oldest child of Ralph and Venice Durfee who lived in Leota, Utah, a small farming community in the Uintah Basin. She married Elmond Wilson on November 26, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had seven children, “boy, girl, boy, girl, boy, girl, girl…just like we ordered them.”

Delsa was known for her passionate teaching, kindness and loving inclusiveness, and for her stalwart righteousness. She taught thousands how to get and use their food storage. She also practiced what she preached and gathered in food so she could “feed the hungry” should she need to do so. She lived her testimony daily. While serving three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and across her life, she shared her deep love and testimony. When counting her grandchildren, she counted each new spouse as her own with love and welcoming. Like her oft repeated stories, her life reflected service and purpose whether she was pulling weeds, sharing food storage and cooking knowledge, or expressing loving-
kindness and generosity. She lived with unwavering positivity and unconditional love and cared for everyone like they were her family.

Delsa taught us to stay positive, keep moving and never give up. If we were grumpy, she would often say, “You have the same grounds to get glad on.” She taught us love at home and often refereed sibling squabbles saying “Someday you will appreciate each other.” She was right! Her selfless service was longstanding as she cared for several family members over the years.

She lived an incredibly full and purpose driven life, and she maintained her smile and positive attitude to the end. She will definitely be missed, but has to be having a great reunion in heaven!

She is survived by sons and daughters - Delmond and Donna Wilson, ElLois and Cort Bailey, Durven Wilson, Maudine and Scott Thomas, Terry and Laura Wilson, Janel Larson, Veneita Wilson; 37 grandchildren including spouses; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by spouse; parents; four siblings; and grandson Jake Wilson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 30, 10:00 a.m. at Herriman Rose 1st Ward, 13122 South Herriman Rose Blvd, Herriman, Utah. Viewing on Sunday, July 28, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Rd, Taylorsville, Utah, and on Tuesday at the chapel from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Interment in Tridell Cemetery, Tridell, Utah.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to the gifted healthcare workers with Rocky Mountain Hospice who served her for 20 months.
