Carolyn Cramer Brooks

February 23, 1946 — April 28, 2021

On Wednesday, April 28, 2021, Carolyn Brooks, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 75, having spent her final hours surrounded by family and friends.

Carolyn was born on February 23, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Christopher Bernard and May Ruesch Cramer. She was raised in Granger, Utah where she graduated from Granger High. She was married to her childhood sweetheart and next-door neighbor, Russel Brooks, on May 20, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple. Carolyn’s greatest love was for her family and the gospel. She loves her family, and they adore her. She loves being surrounded by her family for any occasion, but especially holidays, pool parties, nights at café olé, easter egg hunts, costume parties, camping at Trial Lake, and of course trips to Disneyland. Carolyn is so supportive of her children and grandchildren and always made great effort to be at every important event in their lives.

She is an avid game player and loves to win and spent many hours with family and friends playing the games she loved. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren as “Grandma Treats” because she always had a closet full of treats to share.

Carolyn is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loves her Savior Jesus Christ. She loves to serve others and served as a missionary with her husband on multiple occasions. She is incredibly kind and loving and emulated the Savior in how she lived and loved. She also enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her wonderful friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Christopher; her mother, May; and her half-brothers Dean & Burt Larson.

She is survived by her husband Russel;  her three children, Christy (Jeff) Hansen, West Valley City, Heidi (Nathan) Spencer Tracy, CA, Bryan (Cassidy), South Jordan; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Linda (Roger) Ketchum; and half-sisters Connie Thomas and  Barbara Barton.

The family would like to thank the University of Utah Heath Care Madsen Clinic and the Hospice professionals who provided exceptional care for her. A special thank you to Linda and Roger Ketchum and the other family and friends for their loving care of Carolyn.
