Olga Maria Mogollon

November 3, 1933 — October 13, 2018

Olga Maria Mogollon, 84, passed away surrounded by her loving family October 13, 2018. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and did her best to raise her children according to its principles. In her healthier years, she was very active in The Church; accepting and serving honorably to the best of her abilities in many church callings. In a leap of faith that required much courage and sacrifice, she moved to the United States in 1982 to provide a brighter future for her son. She proudly became a United States Citizen in 2009. She was a simple, caring, selfless woman with a strong work ethic and a love and devotion for her family and friends; always placing their needs before hers and willing to do whatever necessary to care and provide for them. She loved to cook and host people, always making sure they felt comfortable and looked after. In the last few years of her life she found happiness in family gatherings full of food, dancing and laughter. She was also grateful for all those who offered companionship and friendship at her apartment complex. She liked watching her "telenovelas", rarely said no to a good ice cream cone, and loved the warmth of morning sunlight. She is survived by three daughters; Adriana Nuez, Alicia Durango, Cristina Aguilar; and three sons; Paul Varela, Ernesto Mogollon, Oscar Mogollon. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Jose Didimo Varela, and by her caring daughter, Consuelo Graczyk. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or other similar organizations with missions to help those who are less fortunate. www.stjude.org Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT.
