Marlin James Dalton

March 2, 1954 — July 10, 2018

During the first morning hour of July 10th, 64 year old Marlin James Dalton drew in his last breath, smiled and peacefully left this world. He was surrounded by family and loved ones on both sides of the veil. Marlin was born on March 2, 1954 to David I. and Georgia Powell Dalton. He grew up in South Salt Lake, attending Blaine Elementary , Central Jr. High and Granite High School. Marlin was an over-the-road truck driver and enjoyed traveling across the USA. He later worked for Harper Construction. Marlin had a keen aim and won trophies in Trap and Skeet competitions. He loved camping and fishing, especially in the High Uintas and could spin a story with the best storytellers. Marlin would buy used cars, repair them and sell them to families in need at affordable prices. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married and later divorced Sylvia Braendlin and was a father of two children, Mathew Mark and Jennifer Lynn. Preceded in death by parents; brother Paul Dalton; and his son Mathew Mark Dalton. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Melinda Casey) Dalton; grandchildren, Joseph, Zakari, Jeszika, Kansys, Izabella Dalton-Casey; siblings, Richard (Faye) Greenhagen, Jerry (Gloria) Greenhagen, Sharon Linschoter, David Greg Dalton, Karl (Vanessa) Dalton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where viewings will be held Friday, July 13th, 6-8:00 p.m. and again prior to services on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, American Fork Cemetery.
