Catherine Louise Chantry Eastin

"Our Beautiful Lady" Catherine Louise Chantry Eastin, age 86, was born to Thomas Carol Chantry and Lura Catherine Liddell in Wellington, Utah November 14, 1931. She passed away at her home in Taylorsville, Utah July 11, 2018. Catherine was a country girl from the day she was born. Her father left her family when she and her younger brother were young so she was expected to help her school teacher mother keep the Bee's, plant and harvest the garden, and pick up coal that had fallen from the coal trains along the railroad tracks to heat their home in the frigid Carbon County winters. In June of 1948, as a sixteen year old Junior attending Carbon High School, she was a 4-H Delegate who was awarded a trip to Washington D.C. for her amazing skills as a seamstress. Thirteen months later, on July 14, 1949, she married her Eternal Companion, Jesse Sherwood Eastin. He fought in the Korean War and upon his return they moved to Monticello, Utah, then to Grand Junction, Colorado, and in 1961 they settled in Taylorsville, Utah. Jesse and Catherine had two children, Barrett Kyle, and Loree Catherine. In 1965, When Loree was 5 years old, Catherine became the Secretary at John C. Freemont Elementary School, in Salt Lake City's Granite School District. For the next 35 years she served as the Secretary at John C. Freemont, and Vista Elementary Schools under Principal's, Morgan Lund, Max Lawrence, and Karen Anderson. After her retirement in 2000, Catherine and Jesse enjoyed three years together with their extended family before Jesse passed away February 25, 2003. Catherine is a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has a deep love and devotion to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and has now been embraced in their loving arms. Catherine is survived by her son Kyle and his wife Oksana; her daughter, Loree and her husband Darol Wagstaff; brother Gene and his wife Judy Chantry; fifteen grandchildren; and ten great- grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 17th, 12:00 noon, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, where a viewing will be held prior to services from 9-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. Place of Birth: Wellington, UtahPlace of Death: Taylorsville, Utah
