Anna Lee Cluff Mackay

August 31, 1946 — July 20, 2018

After a life filled with love and service for her family, friends, and even complete strangers, Anna Lee Cluff Mackay passed away July 20, 2018 at her home in Taylorsville, Utah. She will be greatly missed by all of those with whom she shared her sweet spirit as a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Anna Lee was born August 31, 1946 in Huntington Park, California, to Mercie Cartwright Lee and Millard K Cluff. As the oldest of four children, she learned from an early age how to work hard and how to deeply love and serve those around her. She developed the unique ability to make each individual feel as though they were the most special person in the world. She was kind, compassionate, and would do everything in her power to help lighten another's burden. She married her best friend and eternal companion of 52 years, Lynn Ray Mackay, in the Salt Lake LDS temple on September 2, 1966. Together, they embarked on the journey of life that included raising five children: Allison (Jason) Lloyd, Meredith (J. Daren Smith, deceased; Kevin) Cameron, Scott (Jerilyn) Mackay, Douglas (Misty) Mackay, and Phillip (Keli) Mackay. As a mother, Anna Lee helped each child feel special in their own way. She encouraged them to follow their passions and to be true to themselves. She provided love and support and was always available to listen, to share helpful advice, or to just be a shoulder to cry on. Anna Lee was grandmother to twelve grandchildren. They will always remember the dishes on the counter filled with different types of candy - each carefully chosen because it was a favorite of at least one grandchild. She enjoyed buying holiday-themed pencils, erasers, socks, and little toys for each one of them. She deeply loved her grandchildren and was very interested in each one of their lives. Her home was a sanctuary where everyone felt comfortable, happy, loved, and special. Anna Lee was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She cherished the years she served in the Relief Society and Primary organizations. As a primary teacher, she made sure that each child had their own box of crayons and special treat. Following an early retirement from her years working at UPS, she and Lynn served a full- time mission in Auckland, New Zealand. In the mission president's office, where she served most of her time, Anna Lee adopted each young missionary as her own, providing them with motherly love during the time they were away from their families. She served faithfully as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River LDS temple for many years. The countless lives that she touched through her lifelong service will be forever blessed. Funeral services will be held in her honor at 11:00am on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Westland 8th Ward, 7115 South 3200 West. Viewings will be held Thursday, July 26th from 6:00-8:00pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and again on Friday morning before the funeral from 9:30-10:45am at the church.
