Yvonne DeHeer

January 1, 1951 — September 11, 2025

Yvonne Louise Williamson DeHeer passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, surrounded by love and family. She was 74 years old.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arie and Aartje Williamson, Yvonne grew up with a strong sense of family, faith, and creativity. She attended Granite High School and spent many hours recreating and enjoying life with her Dutch aunts, uncles, and cousins. Camping and boating were the mainstay, even at an early age. Yvonne was a good student, who often knew more about sewing than her home-ec. teacher. She and her cousin Joan used to love sitting in seminary asking difficult questions and smirking as the teacher struggled to respond.

At age 17, she met Ronald Drew DeHeer while cruising down State Street, a classic love story that began when she was impressed by a handsome guy with a Chevy Chevelle, and a great stereo. It was a spark that never faded. In fact, Ron often joked when asked how they kept the spark alive in their marriage, "I say something and then sparks fly"! They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls temple, and their marriage became a beautiful example of love, partnership, and shared adventure. Ron affectionately called her "Hot Lips," and their bond remained strong until his passing. We rejoice that they are now together again, never to be separated!

Yvonne was a lifelong, devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was passionate about family history, a love passed on to her by her grandfather. She was continually inspired by the desire to unite her ancestors with her posterity. Her efforts have become a great blessing to her children and especially her grandchildren. Her greatest service was to her husband in the years before his passing as she cared for him relentlessly.

She had a deep love for nature and adventure. Lake Powell was her happy place, where she dazzled everyone with her water-skiing skills. Yellowstone National Park held a special place in her heart, and her home is filled with stunning wildlife photographs she and Ron captured together, proof that bison and bears make excellent houseguests when framed properly.

Yvonne loved learning and reading. She enjoyed a good novel and learning about ancient cultures and civilizations. She especially loved to travel to see ancient ruins. She loved her collection of American Indian jewelry and to display and share the beautiful art and artifacts from her travels and adventures.

She was a gifted seamstress. When her children spotted the latest fashion trends at the mall, she'd head straight to the fabric store, pick out a pattern, and recreate the look herself. Most of her children's wardrobes growing up were handmade with love and often looked better than the originals. She was also a passionate scrapbooker, documenting every family vacation, milestone, and moment with care and creativity. Her home is filled with volumes of scrapbooks, each one a testament to the joy she found in family life.

Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the memories she preserved, and the love she gave so freely.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Drew DeHeer, her parents Arie and Aartje Williamson and granddaughter Maebelle DeHeer.

She is survived by her children Ron, Alanna (Brad) and Natalee (Danny) and her 10 grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
