Walter James Brown Jr.Beloved Father, Veteran, and Lifelong Servant 

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Walter James Brown Jr., a devoted father, proud veteran, and beloved family man. Walter passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear.

Walter was the cherished brother of Cecelia Carson, Steve Brown, Terry Brown. He was a guiding light to his children: Lorilyn Brown, Walter Brown III, Ryan Brown, Dawnielle Brown, and Jeremy Brown, and a source of wisdom, humor, and unconditional love throughout their lives.

Walter honorably served his country as a member of the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, embodying courage, resilience, and sacrifice. His military service remained a profound source of pride, and his stories and strength inspired all who knew him.

After his time in the military, Walter continued to serve-this time in a spiritual capacity-as a service missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For nine years, he dedicated himself to genealogical work, helping families discover and preserve their heritage.

Walter was also a lifelong supporter and leader in the Boy Scouts of America, serving faithfully as a Scoutmaster for decades. His leadership and mentorship left a lasting mark on the lives of many young people. In recognition of his outstanding service, he was honored with the Silver Beaver Award, one of Scouting's highest distinctions.

A man of many passions, Walter found joy in square dancing, which he pursued with enthusiasm and energy. He was also a dedicated University of Utah Utes fan, proudly cheering on his team through every season.

Above all, Walter's greatest joy came in his role as a grandfather. His grandchildren were the lights of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He showered them with kindness, support, and stories that will live on in their hearts forever.

Walter's life was one of service, love, and family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

Survived by his 5 children, 22 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Services for Walter James Brown Jr.

Viewing: Tuesday , July 8th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S Redwood Road, Taylorsville UT .

Memorial Service: Wednesday, July 9th, with a viewing at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at the LDS church building,

7255 South 2200 West, West Jordan, UT.

Burial with Military Honors, following the funeral service at Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park (Camp Williams), 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, UT. A 21-gun salute will be performed in honor of Walter's distinguished military service.

Luncheon to follow the Interment at the LDS church building, 7255 South 2200 West, West Jordan, UT 84084
