Steve was born in Ogden, Utah to Sarah Eleanore Thompson and Howard Aldus Green on October 22, 1941.
Growing up, Steve's family moved several times. He lived in Ogden, Heber, Morgan, and Bountiful and graduated from Bountiful High School in 1958.
Immediately after high school, Steve joined the Coast Guard Reserve where he served for 30 years. He retired in 1989 as a Chief Petty Officer. He also attended the University of Utah and LDS Business College.
Steve worked as a truck driver for JC Bangerter and Son's, WS Hatch Co, and Arizona Fuels Co. He also was co-owner of Green and Singleton Trucking working as an owner operator for 14 years. He also worked at a grocery store. Then in 1967 he got a job working for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier where he faithfully worked for 34 years.
Steve married Linda Edgar and they had 3 children, Steven Jr., Shelley, and Mindy. He later married Sharon Peterson, and the 2 of them adopted Michael. She passed away and on November 6, 1981, Steve married Claudya Back Bolin, who was the mother of DeeAnn, Bob, and Debbie. Together Steve and Claudya raised Mike and had a happy life together for the next 43 years.
Steve loved to read, fish, hunt, camp, cook-out, and travel. He loved trips to East Canyon Resort. They had a motor home and took it on many camping adventures and visited most of the western states. They were able to go to and see all 50 states in a combination of trips and several modes of transportation. They loved to go on bus tours and trains, but their favorite was to go on cruises. They were able to go on 91 cruises together, see all 7 continents, and multiple countries. Trips to Jordan, Egypt, and Antarctica were the highlights of his travels. When he talked about Antarctica, he would get so excited. He loved how unique it was and felt fortunate to have been there since very few people had ever been able to go there.
It was impressive that he could recall ports, cruise lines, towns, and points of interest he had seen, by name, and could recall and talk about things he had seen and done in his life until the end. One of his favorite quotes was, "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." ~ St Augustine
Steve also loved food. He enjoyed cruise food, restaurant food, and trying new things to eat. He made it a point to go out to lunch several times a week for the last 20 years of his life.
Steve was a good, hardworking man who lived a good life and will be missed by many. He passed away due to complications from a fall on August 22, 2025.
Steven is survived by his wife Claudya, his children, Michael K Green (Diana), Steven H Green Jr.(Maria), Shelley Sill (John), Mindy Enlow, DeeAnn Haroldsen (Scott), Robert Bolin (Sue), and Debbie Houghton (Scott), 25 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, brothers Robert Green (Iletta), and Joel Richard Green (Cherrin).
