We have all done our best to weather Stan's tomfoolery up to this point. He was known to say, "I'll decide", and he made his last and most definitive decision on July 16, 2026, and he is now the Lord's problem. Stan leaves behind an extensive collection of striped pearl-snap shirts and Tony Lama boots, worn with the same stubborn confidence that defined him.
Born and raised in Moab, Utah, Stan spent his life working hard as a truck driver and diesel mechanic. His happiest days were spent on "The Mountain" with his family, especially when surrounded by his grandchildren. The invincible man that always had to do things his way is now reunited for eternity with the love of his life, Cheryl Holyoak.
Stan is survived by his children: Jennifer (Norman) Norton, Marc (Julie) Holyoak, Marci Stewart, Angie Barrie, Ryan (Marcie) Rogers, Sara (Kameron) Rice, and Forrest (Dawn) Rogers; along with 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
There will be a viewing for family and friends on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 6 - 8 PM at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. A second viewing for additional family and friends will take place on Monday, July 27, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service that will begin at 12:00 PM, also at McDougal Funeral Home.
Interment will be on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in Moab, Utah at the Moab Grand Valley Cemetery.
