Shawna Kaye Riley Athey

Shawna  Kaye Riley Athey passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on April 14, 2022. She was born to Gene Riley & Marilyn Slack on September 12, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Married James Athey on April 15, 1993. They were sealed in the Nashville Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on June 23, 2008.   She loved babies, baseball, playing pool, dogs, house plants, outdoors and everything green. She grew many flower gardens. She loved many genres of music. 

She worked at St. Joseph Villa, Wintersteiger, & many other jobs serving others. She was a member of the Cottonwood Creek Ward. She served her callings with a smile and love.                              

Shawna is preceded in death by her mother & stepfather, Marilyn & George Slack; sister, Cassie Wright; brother, Michael Riley; sister, Kelley Hills; son, Matthew Athey; best friend Vivienne Forbush; and her best pal Jakee her dog.             

She is survived by her husband James Athey; daughter Heather Athey; brother Terry Riley; many nieces & nephews & great nephews and nieces.

Memorial Services will be held at the Cottonwood Creek Stake Center on April 23, 2022,  3:00 pm, 1250 E. Murray Holliday Blvd with a visitation 2:30-3:00 p.m. prior to the Memorial service. Her cremains will remain with James.
