Shauna Butters

November 30, 1948 — February 9, 2023

Shauna Faye Hansen Butters, age 74, our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend returned to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

Shauna was born on November 30, 1948 in Logan, Utah to Wallace R. and Faye B. Hansen. She was the oldest of five children and had a happy childhood, growing up in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City. She graduated from South High School, studied nursing in college and worked at LDS hospital as a nursing assistant.

In the summer of 1970, Shauna met Brian Butters. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on November 18, 1970. Together they had four children and raised their family in West Jordan and South Jordan, Utah. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shauna was a devout disciple of Jesus Christ and served in numerous capacities including Primary, Young Women and Relief Society. For several years, Shauna and Brian were honored to serve together in the Jordan River Temple.

For decades Shauna worked as a Secretary at Welby Elementary in South Jordan, where she touched the lives of generations. She has been described as the rock of the school, always having the teachers, staff, parents and most importantly the children's best interest at heart. She cherished the friendships she made over the years with her co-workers, students and their parents.

A lifelong BYU Cougar fan, Shauna enjoyed many football games with family. She always found joy in drinking a nice, cold Dr Pepper, and loved chewing "the good" pebble ice. Many friends, and even strangers, commented on her youthful hands and beautiful hair. Shauna was very skilled at crocheting and made innumerable baby blankets, burp clothes, baby booties, afghans and more. As a natural caregiver, Shauna had the gift of making everyone feel truly loved and cared for, and was always more than willing to help.

The highlight of each month was Family Sunday Dinner - when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to Grandma's house for dinner, shenanigans and games. Shauna was delighted to have her grandson, Elder Kevin Butters, serving in the Houston Texas Mission.

Shauna is survived by Brian, her husband of 52 years, her children: Dave (Jana), Jenny, Devin (Heather), 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Karen Osborn (Richard), Ray Hansen (Susan), Lisa Markham (Kevin), LuAnn Oakes (Greg) and many nieces and nephews. Shauna was preceded in death by her daughter Julie Butters Hall.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM with a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.

Both visitations and the funeral will occur at the South Jordan Highland 6th Ward church building located at 10115 South Yorkshire Dr, South Jordan, Utah.

Interment will follow at the South Jordan City Cemetery (10750 South 1055 West) South Jordan, Utah.
