Sandra Lawaine Taylor

Our beloved wife, mother, grandma, grandma-great, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Sandra Lawaine Taylor, passed away August 26, 2026, at home surrounded by her husband and five children.

A truly kind person, Sandra was blessed with a warm, joyful spirit. Never too busy to help, she touched the lives of many people, and leaves us with a legacy of compassion, generosity, and so much love.

Born in Murray, Utah on November 17, 1940, to Dewey and Lawaine Peterson, Sandra married her eternal sweetheart, Roe Taylor, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 12, 1959. Theirs was a true partnership, whether traveling the world - they journeyed to numerous countries across six continents - golfing, herding cattle on horseback, gardening, (including mowing the lawn in her 80's), or enjoying their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, they were always together.

Sandra was a devoted mother, always there with a helping hand, a bit of advice, or a warm hug. Her homemaking and culinary skills were beyond compare; no one could claim a 'lighter hand' with pastry. Her 'green jello salad', banana cream pie, and especially those delicious homemade Thanksgiving noodles were legendary. She excelled at sewing, quilting, and making beautiful things for her home. She loved reading and was never without a book close at hand. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she enjoyed serving in many church callings, bringing her natural warmth and empathy to them all.

Once her children were grown, Sandra worked at O.C. Tanner, retiring after twenty-five years of service. It was then that her love of adventure truly shone - traveling extensively with Roe, taking up golf, at which both she and her sweetheart excelled - all while continuing to nurture her family. We all knew that 'Mom', 'Grandma', or 'Grandma-Great' was always there for us if needed.

We will miss her grace, her compassion, her sweet spirit, and infectious laugh. The times spent visiting grandma and grandpa, bringing over lunch or dinner to enjoy together, phone conversations, days away at the family farm, so many happy Thanksgivings, and joyful Christmases. Her beautiful smile lives on in her family, and though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find peace in envisioning what a joyful reunion she must be having: holding her great-granddaughter Mila in her arms, hugging her much-loved parents, younger sister Judy, her beloved in-laws, and so many loved ones who have journeyed on before.

She leaves behind her husband and sweetheart Roe Taylor, five children: Scott (Lisa) Taylor of Herriman, Utah, Don (Krystal) Taylor of Gilbert, Arizona, Julie (Christian) Hunt of Gilbert, Arizona, Kelly (Alex Di Dio) Taylor of Los Angeles, California, Lana (Daniel) Terry of Lake Point, Utah.

Seventeen Grandchildren: Annie Taylor, Jesse (Samantha) Taylor, Zachary (Alyssa) Taylor, Andrew Hunt, Desirae (Alii) Ete, River (Cera) Taylor, Brackon (Madie) Taylor, Derek (Cassandra) Terry, Autumn (Tyler) Christensen, Caius (Aariel) Taylor, Mackenzi Taylor, Ashlyn Hunt, Cameron (Krystal) Terry, Alexis Hunt, Shea Taylor, Rory Taylor, Caden Terry.

Twelve Great-Grandchildren: Elena, Nixon, Elijah, Ledger, Mila, Ethan, Leila, Oakley, Charlotte, Brooks, Palmer, Ivory.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 12 p.m., noon, at the L.D.S. Church, 3970 S. 5200 W., West Valley City, with a viewing from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. An evening viewing will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.

Interment will take place in Fremont, Utah.
