Ross Blaine Linnell - 1931 - 2022

Ross Blaine Linnell, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 31st, 2022, with his family surrounding him. Ross was born on December 12, 1931, to Blaine Mills Linnell and Alta Lorraine Linnell. He was married to his sweetheart LaVon Simon Linnell in the Salt Lake Temple on February 20, 1956. They were married for 64 years and were blessed with 4 children.

Ross enjoyed being active his entire life. He played football at West High School and Utah State University. He also enjoyed going to the Deseret Gym and playing racquetball. He was often outside working in his beautiful yard. Ross proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 3 ½ years and was a Korean War veteran. He worked at Mountain Fuel for 40 years and retired in 1995. He was generous, kind, and his main concern in life was the well-being of his family. Ross served in several leadership positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Bishop.

Ross is survived by his 4 children: Sherrie Marshall, Scott (Alison) Linnell, Julie Brown, and Mark (Jeff Allison) Linnell. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife LaVon, parents Blaine and Alta Linnell, sisters Lila Nowell and Carol Nielsen, and son-in-law Steven Brown.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7th at McDougal Funeral Home located at 4330 S. Redwood Rd. Viewing will be from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow the services at Murray City Cemetery.
