Rosemary Carter

February 16, 1940 — February 7, 2024

Our dear sweet Mother and Grandma passed peacefully on February 7, 2024, with her family by her side in St. George, Utah.

Mom was 83 years old born February 16, 1940, in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, to Kenneth and Hazel Hetzel. Mom married James G. Carter on September 3, 1955, in Reno, Nevada. They moved to Moab, Utah where their 1st child, Debi was born in 1956. In 1957 they moved to Salt Lake and managed Parkway Apartments where their 2nd child, Gary was born in 1961.

In 1962 they moved to their new home in Taylorsville, Utah. In 1971, their 3rd child, Garland was born and in 1972, their 4th child, Donnie was born.

Mom worked for over 35 years for Albertsons as a meat wrapper. She retired in 1999.

Mom was a great cook and learned the art of southern cooking from our dear grandma Stella Carter. Mom and Dad loved to spend weekends camping at Strawberry Reservoir where the early morning fishing trips were born. Later they spent time in their Heaven on earth, their cabin located in Pine Mountain east of Oakley, Utah.

Mom's cheerful personality and smile was her greatest feature and that made it very easy for her to make countless friends. Mom was loved buy all she knew with many relationships that were fostered with her outgoing enthusiasm. She was an avid card and bingo player. She loved to play the slots at Wendover and Mesquite, Nevada. She also loved to partake of the buffets!

Mom just simply loved life, her family and people and enjoyed visiting with her friends, even in her later days she did not know how to slow down. Mom was an avid sports fan, and loved cheering for the Green Bay Packers; the Denver Broncos, and the Utah Jazz.

You could always count on mom giving you the weather report for anywhere, local and far away.

Mom is survived by her four kids, Debi (Dennis) Rowley, Gary (Sandy) Carter, Garland Carter, Donnie (Ember) Carter; brothers Jerry Hetzel, Dave (Linda) Hetzel; sister-in-law Shirley Gonzales; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great grandchild on the way, and 2 great-great grandchildren on the way. Preceded in death by her husband James G. Carter; parents Kenneth and Hazel Hetzel; brothers Jim and Donnie Hetzel; sister Dorothy Basden and her furry babies Molly and Trixie.

Our family would like to thank the St. George Regional Hospital Doctors, Nurses and Staff for their exceptional care for our Mom.
