Roger LaMonte Newbold Papa s Gone Fishing Roger LaMonte Newbold, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away May 20, 2011. Born July 21, 1939 in Murray, Utah to Lizzie Sheppard and Marks Jenkins Newbold. Married 48 years to the love of his life, Angela Bensch, November 1, 1962 in the Logan Temple. He spent his life serving others. Served in the Army reserves, as well as an LDS mission to Southern Australia. He spent 35 years in the construction industry, working for Gibbons and Reed and CPC as a truck foreman and equipment manager. Later he retired to his mountain in Fruitland where he and Angela have lived for the last 6 years. He was known as the caretaker of the mountain by his friends and neighbors. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved the outdoors- especially fishing. He was full of stories and jokes that he loved to tell anyone who would listen. He was an avid gardener and always shared his crop. He took pride in being self-sufficient. He was an Eagle Scout who was always prepared. He is survived by his wife, Angela, and his children: Julie (Dennis) Maughan, Kimber (Susan) Newbold; 6 grandchildren; one brother Gary (Maureen) Newbold; one sister Bonnie (Keith) Shepherd. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Edwin and infant sister, JaNeal. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, with visitation from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to funeral services.
