Robert Francis Taylor passed away peacefully at home on May 28, 2024 in Taylorsville, Utah at the age of 89.
He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on October 16, 1934 to Augusta Smith and Frank Taylor; and he had one older sister, Ruth Taylor-Coffin.
He grew up during the depression era and learned a trade as a boiler tender early in life to help support his family, and he held many positions while working within the maintenance industry throughout his life.
He served in the US Navy on board the USS Putnam Destroyer as a Seaman Gunner's Mate from June 1952 to October 1955, which included serving during the Korean War.
He married his wife Patricia Hatrick on March 2, 1974 in Stratford Connecticut, and at the same time became a father to Patricia's seven-year-old son Greg.
Bob, Pat, and Greg moved to San Pedro, California in 1975, which marked the beginning of some big changes and great blessings in their lives.
While living in San Pedro, Bob and Pat got involved with the PTA and Scouting through Greg's elementary school where they met a teacher who happened to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
They were introduced to the gospel through that teacher and eventually were baptized and became members of the church on August 8, 1979. They lived in the San Pedro Ward of the Palos Verdes California Stake. Shortly after, Bob legally adopted Greg and they were able to be sealed together as a family for eternity in the Los Angeles, California Temple on November 29, 1980.
Later they moved to North Long Beach and were members of the Long Beach Seventh Ward until they relocated again in 1989 to Taylorsville, Utah where Bob and Pat have been members of the Cedar Breaks Ward.
Since joining the church almost 45 years ago, Bob has been a good and faithful servant of the Lord. He has a strong testimony of the gospel, and is always willing to help others.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Taylor, his Son Greg Taylor (Corinne), Grandson Cody Taylor (Emily), Grandson Zach Taylor (Whitney), Grandson Riley Taylor, and Granddaughter Megan Taylor.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at the Bennion Ward, 5980 South 1300 West, Taylorsville Utah, with a viewing 10-10:45 at the church prior to funeral services.
