Robert Jacob Pistorius passed away peacefully to the other side and reunited with his cherished wife of 67 years, Louise, on Sunday morning August 20, 2023.
He was born to Jake and Myrle Pistorius on September 7, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married his eternal sweetheart, Louise Light on September 28, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple.
He served in the Utah Air National Guard for 8 years and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. One of his jobs was to load the 50 cal. machine guns on the F-86 Sabre fighter jet.
Robert worked as an architect for various companies throughout his career, eventually retiring from the LDS Church's Temple Construction Department after 32 years of employment. He had the most amazing handwriting as if every letter was measured to be exactly the same height as the others.
Robert was an only child, but had a close brotherly relationship with his cousin Roy Pistorius. He also enjoyed many family activities with his cousins on the Shingleton side. Later, the Light family gladly "adopted" him and he had a great relationship with Louise's 6 brothers and sisters and their spouses. There were many family parties, New Year's Day breakfasts, and brother/sister trips that brought happiness and fun into his life.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings including Bishop of his ward.
Louise passed March 15th, 2023, and Bob missed her very much. He told his children days before he passed that he was ready to go, that he missed mom and wanted to be with her, that he missed her cooking ( she was the best cook ever!).
Robert is survived by his 3 children; Jackie, Jeff (Melanie) and David ( Dawna); 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
