Rey-Rey ZZZZZ Marvive, the Nor Cal Filipino from Northern Cali who loved Kempo Karate, Skateboarding, food (boy did he love food), gaming, vaping, Grateful Dead, Punk, Surfing, Fishing (I got you B$&^h Brothers Club), dancing, traveling, parties but most of all he loved making new friends and calling them family. Rey attributes who he was to his mother Norma Zabala and shared all he learned with his first love, his boys, Jake, Jonah, Caleb, Logan and Mason Marvive. All boys, ALL BOYS. Just in case you missed that part. He called them his buddies and taught them how to take care of themselves, speak from their heart, forgive, and hold no regrets. Most of all he showed them how to fight for life, a better life. Rey loved his sons, more than he loved himself. The joy he would feel in his heart after spending time with them would give Rey that push for another day. Rey fought for more time in so many ways, against the disease and most times against another. Rey’s focus was his family. Our Family – the Marvive Family. In 2018 they added to the crew of 6 accepting Robin as his wife, whom he knew back in the day, aka 1987. The way Rey and Robin loved each other was perfect for them. Equal in everything from faith to laughter, Rey’s heart was truly full. As he would say, she will fight with me and for me. One love! We can talk about family all we want, but it was Rey’s friendships throughout his life that were everlasting and impacted him in so many ways. Every person Rey met was treated with love and respect. You always had to wonder if Rey did not like someone, what was wrong that person, Lol.  Rey had great times with everyone, from his family in California to his Boston family (in Rey’s Boston voice) to his Filipino Family, (in Rey’s Jo Koy voice), he loved to bust your balls as he would say. Rey was truly the definition of pure Joy, Love and Happiness. It was Rey’s journey with God that prepared him for eternal life. Rey loved God! Rey did not fear death because he was excited to see God and be in his presence. Rey was scared to leave his family and friends. Rey wanted more time with his son Jake in France, more time with his boys Jonah, Caleb, Logan and Mason, more time with his wife Robin and fur babies. More time.  Rey’s life will be remembered forever, not just because he touched so many hearts but because Rey was truly a good person, good father, good husband, good family member, simply a good person. To all his family and friends that truly loved Rey, thank you from his family for loving him and loving us. All Rey’s true family and friends are invited to celebrate his life with his wife and boys. Honoring Rey and his wishes always. One Love! Marvive Love!

Letter from Sons:

From: Jake

My wonderful father represented so many things, he was a hard-working man with courage, compassion, strength, and perseverance.

He was someone who loved with all of his heart, and someone who was willing to do anything for his family. Even after everything, he never gave up on me.

I am never going to forget his perfect smile that could always light up a room, and his ridiculous sense of humor and jokes. Anybody that had the pleasure of knowing him would remember how hilarious he was.

He never judged anyone and was always so humble and grateful for the things he had in his life, he never asked for anything more. The simple joys were more than enough for him to be happy.

My father was so wise, and I am eternally grateful for the valuable life lessons he taught me, those are things I am always going to take with me; all I want is to make you proud of me dad.

I am really going to miss receiving messages from you, and hearing the sound of your voice. I am going to miss seeing “dad” appear as a notification on my phone.

I love you with ALL of my heart and I am so lucky that the universe made you my dad. Someday you, my mom and I will be reunited again. May you always be with us in spirit.

 Your son,

 Jake

From Caleb:

Dad I love you.

My pops to me was the greatest man I have ever met, hopefully one day I can be just like him. I will forever love the person he was and the teachings he taught to me and I will take them to heart for the rest of my life and because of him I have life and to that dad I say thank you and I will remember you for being the pillar of light that you are and the best father I could ever ask for. I love you dad.

From: Mama Norma and Sister Raquel

Mom and I are heartbroken that you left us so soon.

You fought hard until your very last breath. Your strength and will to stay alive amazed us and showed your boys how strong you were. We were not surprised because this was the type of person you were your entire life. You endured so much so you could have more time with Robin and the boys.

Seeing the life you built with Robin and the boys, brought us so much joy. This was a life you yearned for, for such a long time. A life of true love and happiness.

We will miss you, Rey-Rey. Rest In Peace.
