Pamela Jean Kemp (Slater) aka GiGi
March 1, 1956 - July 14, 2026
Our beautiful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother has made her way back to heaven.
She was born to Donald Keith Slater and Christene Helen Smith in Huntington Park, California.
She married Albert Hensley and had four amazing children: Rodger, Donnie (Gwen), Mandy, and Marnell (Fred).
Later in life, she met and married Richard Kemp and went on to spend many years together in Utah and Colorado. She loved riding on the back of his Harley any chance she got and loved being in nature where she could visit with her oldest son Rodger, who preceded her in death.
Mom made a career in childcare for over 30 years. She loved taking care of her children and anyone else's children who needed her.
She loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She shared a special relationship with each grandchild, and always remembered every birthday, graduation, and/or special event.
One of mom's favorite memories was going deep sea fishing in Mexico with her dad and sister Marnell (aka Penny) every summer.
Mom loved doing word searches and puzzles all while watching an old black and white tv show.
Our mom made everyone feel so loved. She always accepted everyone calling her mom or GiGi, even her children's friends. Mom loved all her children's spouses as her very own (as well as all her grandchildren's mothers and fathers). She cherished every relationship she came across and always kept in touch with everyone.
Our mom was a loving mom- she would do anything for anyone.
Our mom cherished her 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren with all her heart. She always gave them courage to be strong and to be themselves. She was the center of our world and kept all of us together with so much love and joy. She made our family complete. We will forever continue to do as she wished and that is to hug her grandbabies and great-grandbabies tight for her always.
Thank you mom for choosing us four as your children. In any lifetime, we will always choose you as our mom.
Mom is back in heaven with her parents and her first born, Rodger.
"Mother, the ribbons of your love are woven around my heart."
