Listen to Obituary

Norma Jean Latta Bertola, age 89, passed from this earth on April 17, 2026. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gilbert Latta and Stella Scott Latta on December 5, 1936. She was the oldest of 6 children and graduated from Granite High School in 1955.

She met James Arthur Bertola, who swept her off her feet, and they were married on February 7, 1959. They had 55 years together before he passed in 2014. She had two children, Jamie Jean and Jeffrey Michael.

As a young woman, Norma decided to get her associate's degree in business. She worked as an accountant and bookkeeper for several local businesses before choosing to be a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking all the Italian family recipes and passed her knowledge on to anyone who wanted to learn.

She was an avid researcher of genealogy and has an impressive album full of family connections going back hundreds of years.  Norma was also a woman of faith, and a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

She leaves behind her grandsons Justin (Terra) Wanner, Jake Bautner and her great-granddaughters Jillian and Jorja. She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her children Jamie and Jeff, and her granddaughter Joey, as well as her parents and her siblings Marva, Helen, Ranae, Linda, and Mark. May they all be there to greet her with joy and love.

Memorial Services will be held at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah on April 27, 2026 beginning at 12:00 pm.
