Michael Randy Westberg, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the age of 82, at home surrounded by family. He has returned home to his Heavenly Father.

Michael was born on February 11, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Virgil Leslie Westberg and Edna LaRue Ruff. He was the second of three children and was raised in Salt Lake City. He attended Washington Elementary School, Horace Mann Junior High, and West High School.

During his high school years, Michael stayed active in a variety of pursuits. He played basketball, competed in high jump, and sang in the a cappella choir. He also performed with a singing group known as "The Troubadours," alongside Carl Biehn, Gary Biehn, Terry Hamblin, and Dick Baggett. An early reflection of his enduring lifelong enjoyment of music and being around others.

Michael married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Fleming, on September 14, 1963. Together, they built a long life and raised seven children. Their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. This September would have marked 63 years together, reflecting a lifetime of love and commitment to one another.

Throughout his life, Michael worked in a variety of roles, including with Winder Dairy, Mother's Cookies, Casual Furniture and Draperies, and Granite Furniture. At his core, he had an entrepreneurial spirit. He was always looking outside the box for new opportunities. He passed that mindset on to his children, from running a mini lawn mowing business to a small business of their own.

Michael was especially known for being easy to talk to. He truly could talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime. He had a natural way of connecting with people, often striking up conversations wherever he went. He was quick with a joke and made interactions feel comfortable and light. His kindness and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

In his later years, Michael continued to enjoy music, singing with groups such as the Old Time Fiddlers and later Country Blue Folk, performing at nursing homes, churches, and community events.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Leslie Westberg and Edna LaRue Ruff, and his sister, Thea Sharon Winegar.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Anne Westberg; his children: Todd (Marcey), Shayne (Tammy), Lisa Wood, Rochelle (Mitch) Larsen, Brian (Lindi), Brandon, and Tyler Westberg; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Gayle Lynn (Shauna) Westberg.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Rocky Mountain Hospice, especially Clint, Aimee, Emily, and Lynn, for their care and support during this time.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah 84123. A gathering with family and friends will be held from 1:30-3:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service in the chapel from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
