Matthew Michael Riley, son of Cheri Madill was born October 12, 1988. He passed away at the age of 37 from unexpected health issues on August 9, 2026.
Matthew found his greatest joy outdoors -- whether hiking mountain trails or casting a line into a quiet lake at sunrise. Nature was his sanctuary, and he shared that love generously with family and friends. His kindness, steady presence, and easy laugh made people naturally gravitate to him. He lived simply, loved deeply, and never missed a chance to appreciate the beauty around him.
Matthew was happiest with a fishing pole in his hand or hiking boots on his feet. He loved the quiet peace of the mountains and the joy of a good catch. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, his loyalty to those he loved, and the way he found beauty in simple moments. His family and friends will miss him deeply.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who walked beside Matthew throughout his life -- those who supported him, laughed with him, and loved him. As you move through the world, may you think of him whenever you witness the quiet beauty of the outdoors: the stillness of a sunrise, the strength of the mountains, the peace of a winding trail. In those moments, may his spirit feel close and keep his memory alive.
A special thank you to Matthew's father figure Randy Jones as well as Zach, Liv, Suzy, Julie, Kathy, Laura, Pete, and Rachael.

A Letter From Heaven
When tomorrow starts with out me,
And I'm not here to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes,
Filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry,
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things
We didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you.
And each time you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.
When tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here
in your heart.
