Matthew Padilla

Matthew John Padilla, 56, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born on August 28, 1969, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Primitivo and Marcelina Padilla. Matthew was a devoted son, father, brother, grandfather, and friend whose kindness and generous spirit touched everyone he met.

Matthew is survived by his children, Stacie, Alexis, and Zachary Padilla; his mother, Marcelina Padilla; his sisters Yvonne Nielson (Ty), Lisa Sickler (Troy), and Anita Brewer (Brad); and his brother Ronnie Lopez (Carla). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Layne and Graysen Court, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his father, Primitivo Padilla, and his brothers, Michael and Camilo Padilla.

Matthew's favorite pastimes included golfing, fishing, and riding his motorcycle, he enjoyed watching sports -- he would often refer to himself as the Broncos' most loyal fan. But above all, music was his greatest joy. He played for many years in the band Dream Raage, and band practice nights were among his happiest times.

Matthew loved his family and friends with all he had. He was known for his big heart - always giving, even when he had little to give. His kindness, generosity, and gentle nature left a lasting impression on everyone around him.

A dedicated Boy Scout leader for many years, Matthew took pride in teaching, guiding, and mentoring youth. Professionally, he spent most of his life in the printing business, where he worked his way up to become a skilled pressman.

Matthew will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

The celebration of life for Matthew Padilla will be held on December 12, 2025, from 4:00- 6:30 PM at 3555 West 5620 South, Taylorsville, Utah.
