Marjorie Mae Carter, "Margie" returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 6th surrounded by her children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Margie was reunited with her husband, Verdean with whom she shared a loving marriage lasting 30 years, and whom she was sealed to for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Anyone who knew Margie would tell you about the immense pride she had in her family, which included 9 children, 24 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Margie also had 5 stepchildren from her marriage to Verdean which included several more grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Christmas parties held by Margie and Verdean required renting a large hall just to accommodate their immediate family.
Margie's children and grandchildren were her best friends, confidants, and helpmates. Her life literally revolved around raising her children and grandchildren and she wouldn't have it any other way.
Margie had a fierce faith in the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served several years teaching the Sunbeam primary class, a calling she particularly enjoyed.
Looking at older pictures of Margie it was easy to see she had a chic sense of style, always wearing the latest fashion which she usually sewed herself. Legendary pictures exist of Margie wearing various hairstyles, including the beehive, a bouffant, and an afro that reached heights that would make most women jealous, even today!
Margie is preceded in death by her husband Verdean, parents Virgil and Ruth Jacobsen, brothers Robert, Ronald, and Keith, sister Kathy, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, one grandson, and three son in laws. Margie is survived by her 9 children, five of which from her first marriage to Duane Carter (deceased). Her son Rick Carter (Julie), daughter Wendy Tonge-Stenholm (Ron/Dan, both deceased), daughter Kelly Carter (Elena), daughter Shauna Petersen (Randy), son Shane Carter (Kristie), daughter Autumn Clay-Haggard (Lee (deceased), Steve), daughter Heidi Tittrington (Scott), daughter Nichole Kesler (Zach), and son Daniel Carter (Aimee), five stepchildren, several dozen grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Hunter Hollow, skilled nursing facility, where Margie lived for just more than 5 years. Margie developed a strong love for the staff and residents at Hunter Hollow and considered them cherished friends. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Alma, Ronnie, Levita and the staff at Rocky Mountain Hospice Care for the special care and love shown to Margie and her family.
