Marjorie Beech Ord

Marjorie Ord 1920 ~ 2011 Our loving mother, Marjorie Ord, passed away in West Jordan, Utah on June 3rd at age 91. She was born January 23, 1920 in Salt Lake City to Leone Knight and Fred Beech. Her family moved to Los Angeles, CA when she was five years old. Marjorie joined the LDS Church at age fifteen and met her future husband, Ross Ord, at a church young adult social. They married on October 12, 1940; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1942. Marjorie and Ross raised their three children in El Monte, CA. She worked as a secretary in the garment industry and insurance fields. She was noted for her bright smile, pleasant disposition, organizational skills and being a fast typist. After moving to Utah when her husband retired, Marjorie continued to work part time until the age of 80. Her hobbies were reading, sewing and genealogy. Marjorie was devoted to her children, providing them with an abundance of love and security. She welcomed a Turkish foreign student, Binnaz Ekin, into her home, who continues to be part of the family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross; sister, Janice Smith; and grandson, Aaron Kelly. She is survived by daughters: Susan Ord, Janis (Larry) Kelly, West Jordan; son, Gary Ord, West Covina, CA; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Sonnie from Good Shepherd Home Health, staff at Neighborhood House Adult Day Care and Rocky Mountain Rehabilitation, and Dr. Kevin Johnson for their loving support and care. A visitation will be held Monday, June 6, 2011, 10 - 11:30 a.m. at the Bingham Creek Stake Center, 8539 South 2200 West, West Jordan with graveside services following at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South.
