Marilyn Betz

January 3, 1935 — January 27, 2023

Marilyn Grace Betz of West Valley City, passed away at home on January 27, 2023. She left behind her husband of 65 years Allen Betz.

Marilyn was born on January 3, 1935 in Houston, Minnesota, to Harold and Sylvia Beckman. She grew up in Houston, Minnesota, on a dairy farm.

On September 7, 1957 she married the love of her life, Allen Betz. They were married 65 years. Their marriage was an incredible love story filled with devotion to each other and to their faith. They lived in St Paul, Minnesota, and Salt Lake City, Utah. They spent a few years in Lubbock, Texas, but returned after their son Steven's death to spend time with their grandchildren.

She worked at home raising two children, Jenelle and Steven. She loved teaching Sunday School. Marilyn loved baking and if you were lucky, you would receive a batch of "Special K Bars" at Christmas. She also was known for her many different kinds of jello salads. Her hobby and special gift was brightening the lives of others with her cards and handwritten letters.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Allen, sister Cathleen (Lee), daughter Jenelle Cordova (Al), Grandson Ryan and Granddaughters Alexis and Alisa Shosted (Monte), and a very special Great Granddaughter Rowan. Marilyn was preceded in death by her only son Steven, her beloved grandson Brandon and sister Sharry.

Special thank you to Donna Gallup for all her prayers and phone calls and to Alisa Shosted for her meals that included Grandma's favorite Funeral Potatoes!

A Memorial Service was held at Grace Baptist Church in West Valley City, Utah, on February 18, 2023.

Marilyn will be buried in Minnesota at the cemetery behind the South Ridge United Methodist church where she and Allen were married.
