In Loving Memory of Marilyn A. Allred-Bennett
1947 - 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Marilyn A. Allred-Bennett, 78. Marilyn was born in Heber City, Utah to Gail and Maude Anderson of Talmadge, Utah. She was a longtime resident of Kearns, Utah. A beloved matriarch and the heart of her family, Marilyn departed this world surrounded by loved ones.
Known for her strength, independence, and fierce devotion, Marilyn built a remarkable career spanning nearly 40 years in the western clothing industry, representing major brands with grace and tenacity at A.A. Callisters and C-A-L Ranch. A retail pioneer at heart, she began her journey at Sprouse-Reitz and Kmart, serving her community with a dedicated spirit that turned everyday shopping trips into lasting memories for everyone who crossed her path. Her success was a testament to her unwavering determination and an inspiration to all who knew her. We'll always miss her warm smile and the way she perfectly pulled together every western look, from her jewelry and nail polish right down to her favorite boots. Yet, above all her achievements, she would tell you her greatest pride and joy was her family.
Marilyn married A. Neal Allred, and together they had four beautiful children, eight grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Though their marriage ended in divorce, her journey of love continued when she met and married the love of her life, Marvin L. Bennett. Their bond was one of deep affection and partnership, and she cherished him dearly until his passing in 2008.
Born and raised on a farm as the youngest daughter in her family, Marilyn loved recounting stories of her childhood, like the challenges of being the girl her father wished were a boy, the humor in life's quirks like the neighbor who would visit just to get his toe nails cut, or playing with paper dolls behind the coal stove to keep warm. She carried this gift for storytelling throughout her life, bringing laughter and warmth to everyone around her.
One particularly memorable story was her quick thinking during an earthquake at Granger High School. Marilyn was famously the first person out of the building, a moment captured in a local newspaper photo that became an enduring and amusing part of her life's narrative.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother Maude, father Gail, husband Marv, sister Ardyce, and her beloved son Bryan.
She is survived by her children Doreen Trujillo, Janeal "Jake" (Heather McGuire) Allred, Ron (Kathy) Allred, and daughter-in-law Lisa Allred; grandchildren Jayson, Jacob (September), Justin (Natasha), Devin (Britany), Erik, Natasha, Bryanna (Bau), Shaelynn; great grandchildren Ashtyn, Libertie, Brayden, Kenzlee, Bella, Silver, Olivia, Ezabella, Wyatt, Leena, Lilith, Oliver, Rubiann, Piper, Aleia, Jayce, and Luke; sisters Lapreal Lund and Rita Everill and brothers Dwayne (Duenna) and Brad (Robyn) Anderson. Each of them carries forward her legacy of love, resilience, and humor, forever grateful for the impact she made in their lives.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah, from 6 pm to 8 pm, where friends and family are welcome to gather and share memories. A funeral service celebrating her life will follow on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11 am with a viewing immediately preceding at 10 am at McDougal Funeral Home, with interment to take place at Valley View Memorial Park 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah. In honor of Marilyn, the family requests that attendees bring a story or memory to share, keeping her spirit alive through the laughter and love she so deeply cherished.
Marilyn will be remembered as the family worrier, the glue that held everyone together. She never hesitated to offer advice, lend an ear, or fiercely protect those she loved. Her legacy of love, resilience, and humor lives on in her children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate to know her.
She will be deeply missed, eternally loved, and never forgotten.
The family would like to thank the amazingly kind-hearted individuals who cared for Marilyn during her final days including those at Sunridge Assisted Living Facility, True North Home Health, and Atlas Hospice.
