Listen to Obituary

Marie Rowley McDougal passed away quietly on May 18, 2026, at home surrounded by her family. After a ten-year battle with cancer, she has finally been freed.

Marie was born on October 31, 1966, in Payson, Utah to Norman and Judy Rowley. Later in her youth, they moved to Basin City, Washington.

On June 19, 1991, Marie was married to her sweetheart Troy D. McDougal in the Salt Lake Temple. They built a beautiful life and home in Riverton, Utah where they went on to have six wonderful children. Her family is the pride and joy of her life.

Marie enjoyed a life of service and learning in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints beginning with her mission in the Michigan Lansing Mission. She continued to enjoy that service throughout her life in Stake and Ward Primary Presidencies, Relief Society Presidencies, as a youth teacher, and finally as a temple worker at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. She loved the people she served and especially the people she served with.

Her interests were wide and varied but typically included a friend or family member roped in to what ever she wanted to do next. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, home remodeling, gardening, teaching English as a second language, and her favorite thing, sitting in the stands cheering on her kids in whatever activity they where doing.

Marie is survived by her husband Troy, and children: Rachel (Scott) Hacking and their daughter Jessica, Rebecca, Isaac, Zack (Lizzy) and their daughter Lucy, Abby, Levi (Brinley), as well as her parents Norman and Judy Rowley, and a large army of brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. She was blessed by their love and support.

It was her love of the gospel and faith in her Father in Heaven that carried her through her illness and gave her meaning and joy despite the difficult days. Now she is excited to see what opportunities for service are ahead for her on the other side.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at 4501 West 11800 South, Riverton, Utah. A viewing will be held 9:00-9:45 a.m., which is a Private Family Only viewing.
