Maria Rico

April 18, 1935 — February 17, 2024

María Dolores Rico Carrasco, also known as "Lola", passed away on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, at the age of 88 in Draper, Utah. She was surrounded by loved ones and had many family members from afar visit her on her last days. She died of natural causes related to the progression of Parkinson's disease.

She is preceded in death by her loyal husband of 58 years, Jose de Jesus Rico, 3 children, 2 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. They all greet her together and most especially, after 14 long years of separation, her husband, "Abuelito", who passed away on September 28th, 2010.

Lola was born on April 18th, 1935, in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico. She was the daughter of Alejandro Carrasco and Ana María Garcia Lopez, the 8th of 14 children. She stopped her schooling after Elementary school, her dreams were not of education but to be a wife and mother. She met her one and only husband at the age of 16, and together they had 13 children, 4 sons and 9 daughters. She dedicated her life to her family. She enjoyed cooking. Tamales and Mole were some of her children's favorite dishes.

Lola lived a long life always surrounded by family. She was loved unconditionally and is known by many both here in Utah and back in Mexico where she lived until the age of 57. Among her love of plants and all living things, she had an adoration of birds. She always kept a few as pets at any given point in her life. She especially loved the atmosphere they brought to her home by their chirping and singing. Family gatherings were her absolute favorite. Nothing brought her more joy than to be surrounded by her loved ones.

She is survived by 10 children, 49 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

In loving memory of Dolores Maria, whose life touched so many, we will gather to celebrate her legacy of more than 100 descendants and say our final goodbyes.

The service will be held at the McDougal Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to attend and share in the remembrance of a life lived to the fullest.
