Margie May (Olsen) Wamsley

August 19, 1935 — September 16, 2025

Margie passed away peacefully in her bed, just as she had hoped to, on September 16, 2025. She was 90 years old. She was born in (Frog Canyon) Bingham Canyon, Utah on August 19, 1935, to Harvey William Olsen and Winifred Emma Downs-Olsen. Margie was the 5th child of 6.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Gladys, brother Harvey, sister Maxine, brother Kenneth, and brother Russell.

She grew up on Zenith Avenue in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from South High School. She was the mother of 5 children, preceded in death by daughters Shauna Clampitt and Teri (infant).

She is survived by her son Frank (Shelly) - Taylorsville, Utah, son Harvey (Holly) - Taylorsville, Utah, and son Michael (Trisha) - West Jordan, Utah along with 15 grandchildren & 10+ great-grandchildren.

Margie had fond memories of her upbringing, riding bicycles, exploring the old brickyard plaza, and teaching her little brother Russell to read. After she married Douglas Wamsley, she traveled as a military family to Alaska and the Philippines. She divorced soon afterwards.

She spent her adult life laboring in manufacturing - (medical & jewelry) as well as being a lunch lady for many years and into retirement.

She had great pride in her children and their accomplishments. She loved cooking and spent many hours in the kitchen honing her skills and was well known for many dishes & dips as well as her buttermilk rolls. She loved spending time in her kitchen, looking out the window, watching the on-goings and reading her scriptures.

She spent many hours serving others vicariously in Temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Stake Missionary and held many other callings. She loved time with family and friends... "you don't need to run off now", she would say.

She loved dogs, their company and the unconditional love they provided. She had a love of beautiful flowers and plants and had them surround her in all her dwellings.

She had fond memories of going to rodeos, fairs, demolition derbies, square dancing, and bowling. She had a spunky disposition; she was feisty when called for and had a fierce love for her family and close friends.
