Margie L Smith

July 31, 1934 — January 11, 2022

Margie L Smith returned home to her Heavenly Father peacefully on January 11, 2022, at her home in Saratoga Springs, Utah.

Margie was born July 31, 1934, to Charles Thomas Shaw and Dortha Mills in Salt Lake City. She graduated from Cyprus High School in 1952 and went on to work for Mountain Bell telephone company in Magna, Utah for 2 years. She married the love of her life, Merlin, on March 16, 1956, and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised 4 children and 2 grandchildren. She loved to sing, draw, bowl, and play the piano. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed all their family gatherings, and when children, grandchildren and friends would stop by and visit. Most of her joy came from serving her family as a homemaker and being a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her loving husband, Merlin Smith; children, Jed (Charlene) Smith, Todd (Cynthia Vincent), Shawna (Brad) Ballinger, Kathy Johnson Smith, 11 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

Margie was preceded in death by her daughter, Neeley; her grandson, Ryan; her granddaughter, Amelia; grandson, Preston Bronx; and her parents, Tom and Dortha Shaw.

Merlin and the family would like to thank everyone for the support, love and prayers. And a very special thanks to the Home Hospice Nurses, the Heritage First Ward, friends, and neighbors for their compassionate care and help during these last few hard months.

Grave Side Services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 W. 4100 S., West Valley City, Utah.
