Listen to Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we share that our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and dearest friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Born on April 3, 1947 in Magrath, Alberta to Audrey and Shelton Ririe, Ann was raised on their family farm to be hard-working and humble. Alongside her five cherished siblings she learned to sew, cook, garden, and drive a tractor like a pro. After battling cancer with dignity and quiet courage, she was welcomed home early Wednesday morning surrounded by family.Ann spent the last 59 years married to the love of her life, Bruce Ehlert. Together they built a home centered on faith, love, and family. She was the devoted mother of two daughters and five sons who she lovingly raised in Maple Grove, MN.

Ann rose with the sun each morning to study her scriptures and pour out her heart in prayer. Her scriptures were precious to her. She was a devoted seminary teacher for over 20 years and even used her talents to teach her grandkids all over the world. After raising her family she made the decision to go back to school and earned her bachelor’s degree at BYU. Bruce and Ann travelled great distances to visit family and friends and see the world. They loved family history and spent hours working in the temple. They dedicated 18 months of their life to serving a mission in Russia to bless the lives of others.Ann’s life was one dedicated to Christ-like service. She had an unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ and her every act reflected her love for Him and her love for others. Her legacy is especially seen through the lives of her incredible children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There was no problem too big to be solved, no amount of time too imposing, and no distance too far for her to travel to make sure her love was felt for her friends, neighbors and family. She was an especially beautiful seamstress and she spent hours at her sewing machine. Blankets, pajamas, hats, scarves and beautifully embroidered towels and Christmas decorations were the gifts she poured her heart into so they could be given freely to those around her. She spent hundreds of hours surrounded by her family hand-crafting delicious Christmas chocolates and caramels. They were not made to be perfect, they were made for the purpose of gathering together and teaching while sharing time with family. Ann made it a priority to always be available and she had the incredible gift of making each person who spent time with her feel special. With a laugh that lit up a room, a ready smile and a gift of homemade bread, soup, chocolates or cookies, no visit was complete without a special memory and an armful of gifts to take home. Ann was the very definition of a life well lived.

There are simply no words to describe the loss our family feels at her passing. She will be dearly missed. Preceded in death by her parents Audrey and Shelton Ririe, Cheryl Holladay (sister) and Ed Ririe (brother). Ann is survived by her husband: Bruce Ehlert; their seven children: Rob (Annie), Ken (Wendy), Lorianne (Paul), Darren (Sandra), Melanie (Paul), Brad (Connie), and Steve; their 33 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; along with her three siblings: Bruce (Saradel), Rod (June) and Joanne (Bob).
