Lucille Goff Smith

April 27, 1932 — October 31, 2020

Lucy was born on April 27, 1932 in Cortez, Colorado to Glen and Frankie Goff. She loved the four corners area, and Mesa Verde. She was always a country girl at heart and loved returning to see the beautiful land of Colorado. She met her husband Gene while attending Brigham Young University and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 19, 1953. They had many adventures together living in Arizona, Iowa, Spanish Fork, and settling down in Salt Lake City. They welcomed six children and countless friends into their home over the years. To Lucy everyone was a friend. Lucy loved people; she never met a stranger. She loved to talk to people about their children, their homes, and their beliefs.

Lucy had a passion for cooking and for feeding people. She was a wonderful cook, and over the years she won dozens of blue ribbons at the state fair for canning, baking, and cooking. She taught many cooking classes over the years in relief society and in her home. What most people remember however, are the dozens of meals she fed to missionaries, family members, and anyone who needed a warm meal.

Lucy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings over the years. She gave her life in service to her church, family, and neighbors. She was a talented seamstress and made beautiful clothing for her children. Her home was always a happy place; she loved the music of the gospel and frequently played hymns on the piano in her home. Her example and her testimony have had a great influence on all those around her, especially her family.

Lucy is survived by her husband Eugene C. Smith Jr.; and her children Victor (Betty Jo), Bryan (Jerilynn), Julie (Kennie), Shannon (Bret), and Shane (Julie). She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter Becky (Tim). She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A small graveside service will be held for the immediate family on November 6th. Others who are interested in remembering Lucille can join the service at 11:00 a.m. via Zoom:
