Lorna Hilsendeger

May 26, 1939 — July 24, 2022

The world lost a beloved mother and friend to everyone. Lorna Hilsendeger passed away at the age of 83, on July 24, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. She put up a fight until the very end.

Lorna was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on May 26, 1939, to Alfred and Evelyn Larson. She married Eugene "Red" Hilsendeger on May 7, 1961. They had three children; Becky (Kyle), Steve (Josie), and Rhonda (Coy). She had two grandchildren Crystal and Graham (Heather); three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also had many extended grandchildren. She loved all children.

Lorna loved to crochet. Baby blankets were her favorite and she donated many to local hospitals. She loved to bake and made the best cookies ever. No one would have ever guessed that in 1958-59 she worked for the FBI in Washington D.C. reading fingerprints.

In 1975 Lorna and family moved to Salt Lake City. What a big change from Bismarck, North Dakota! She went home every year to visit. She started working for Golden Living/Truewood in 1981 and worked there for forty years. She loved working with the elderly. It broke her heart when she had to leave.

Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, Red; her father and mother, Alfred and Evelyn; and her sister, Erma.

She is survived by her brother, Richard Larson.

A special thanks to Dr. Shortridge and Whitt at Utah Cancer Specialist and to Quality Hospice. We would also like to thank everyone who reached out to her in the last several weeks. She will truly be missed.

On May 26, 2023 she will make her final journey home to be buried with her husband at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
