Lorna Child Evans

September 18, 1947 — September 11, 2025

Our beloved mom, grandma, and great-grandma peacefully departed this mortal life on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in her new home in South Jordan surrounded by her husband and four girls.

Lorna was born on September 18, 1947, in Ogden, Utah to Evan Elwood and Lucille Hodson Child. Lorna was the first daughter after six sons. Lorna grew up in Warren, Utah on a farm and attended Weber High School.

Lorna met David Evans in a Sunday School class at Weber State. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 6, 1968.

Lorna was an early riser and a hard worker. Her favorite job was being a wife, mom, and grandma. Lorna introduced herself to others as Grandma. Throughout the years, Lorna worked at several different jobs. A few of her favorite jobs were: Bradleys as the Jewelry Manager, Team Leader at Discover Card, Crossing Guard for Taylorsville, and her most recent job was working at Seagull Book.

Lorna was a friend to everyone. She loved people and loved to talk to others. She was very generous and loved to bake and take food to people. Lorna was known for her service to others and was always the first to volunteer to help others. When she saw a need, she took care of it.

Lorna was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings throughout the years. She enjoyed ministering to others. Lorna and Dave have been serving as missionaries in the Spanish Ward for the last 17 years. Lorna did not speak Spanish but her love showed through her actions. Lorna loved many and was loved by many. You could not go anywhere without Lorna knowing someone.

Lorna was an amazing seamstress. She made prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, a baby blessing dress -- used for two generations, baptismal dresses, suit coats, dresses, quilts, baby blankets, pillowcases, and matching dresses for her four girls as they were growing up.

Lorna's legacy is her family. Family parties and get togethers meant everything to her. Many family memories were created during her Easter, Halloween, and Christmas parties. The first Saturday in December was always the annual Cookie Exchange with her daughters and granddaughters.

In December 2024, Lorna fell and fractured her hip in five places. Lorna made many valiant efforts to overcome this traumatic injury. Lorna endured so much pain and suffering since her accident. She had many setbacks and continued to fight to be with her family. She worked very hard at the rehab hospital and with her physical therapy.

Lorna is survived by her husband, Dave, and their four prized possessions, her daughters: Trina (Anthony) Faulkner; Trichelle Roberts; Tracianne (Wallace) Conover; and Tricia (Jeff) Loveridge; 16 grandchildren: Tyler (Kiri) Roberts, Zachary Faulkner, Trent (Adyson) Loveridge, Kassidi (HD) Sanderson, Cameron (Kaylee) Loveridge, Alexis Roberts, Aubrey (Ethan) Baum, Olivia Roberts, Gavin (Nadia) Loveridge, Abigail Roberts, Kaeden (Tessa) Faulkner, Jacob Conover, Landon Loveridge, Blake Faulkner, Joshua Conover, and Brandon Conover; 11 great-grandchildren: Jackson, Emmett, Emberly, Oaklyn, Weston, Hadley, Laykn, Quincey, Oliver, Violet, and Caspian. Her siblings Boyd, Lynn, Lorin, Quinn, and Zanna, and many nieces and nephews, also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Alton, Val, Cloy, and Wayne.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at noon at the Bingham Creek Ward located at 1945 W 9000 South, West Jordan, Utah. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 10 am - 11:45 am.
