Leslie Kruger

November 20, 1945 — May 24, 2023

Leslie Ann Kruger returned to her Heavenly Father on May 24, 2023. She was born on November 20, 1945, in San Francisco, California, to Wilford Smithson Young and Afton Bybee Young. Her parents called her their favorite daughter.

She grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from Willow Glen High School in San Jose, California. She continued her education and graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree and a certificate to teach blind students, received a teaching certificate from San Jose State University, and a Master of Education in Mathematics from Southern Utah University. She taught elementary school in the Bay Area of California, in Laie, Hawaii, and in Salt Lake City, for Granite School District, where she taught blind students and elementary school.

She met her future husband in the parking lot of Hygeia Ice Rink in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were sealed in the Oakland California Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 12, 1976. She taught youth Sunday School and Young Women's Camp Activities and loved to go to the temple. She also served a Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Tokyo, Japan.

She loved to travel, camp, and just be in the out-of-doors. Her favorite places to go were Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, San Francisco, California, and Hawaii. She was a kind and generous person, constantly making birthday bags for people, quilts for baby showers and weddings, pillowcases, and letters for people just to express her love and her excitement for their accomplishments.

Leslie was preceded in death by her parents Wilford and Afton, parents-in-law Alma and Hilda, and a grandson Benjamin. She is survived by her husband Rulon, brother Ralph, nephew Cameron (Yuliya), children David (Alicia), Scott (Michelle), Kevin (Chastity), Anne Spencer (Mike), and Kimberly.
