Lawrence Brent Johnson, who always went by Brent feeling like Lawrence was too formal, age 70, passed away on May 19, 2026, at his home. He was born on March 25, 1956, to Elizabeth Jane Troyer in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Brent proudly served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Australia during his service. During that time, the love of his life, Kristi Marlene Neilson Johnson faithfully wrote to him often, beginning a love story that would last a lifetime. They were married on January 20, 1983, and together built a family centered on hard work, loyalty, and love.
After his military service, Brent dedicated his career to the United States Postal Service. He was known for his incredible work ethic, often working multiple jobs and rarely ever missing a day of work. Between shifts at the post office, he also owned a mailing business with his wife, delivered Catalyst Magazines to local establishments, and delivered flowers and chocolates for Mrs. Cavanaugh's. He believed in providing for his family and showed his love through his steadfast dedication and reliability. His family never wanted for anything due to his hard work.
Brent was a man of simple joys and memorable humor. He loved watching westerns and spending time playing FarmVille, even getting his kids logins so he could send items to himself and build up his farm. He loved calling his children just to tell them, "I'm so cute." Beneath his teasing humor was a deeply sentimental man who paid close attention to the people he loved. He had a special gift for choosing the perfect present for each person, always finding thoughtful ways to make others feel seen and cared for. Those funny calls, his laughter, and his familiar deep voice will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his four awesome children and one amazing daughter-in law; Aaron Johnson, Wendy Johnson, Joshua (Janet Castillo) Johnson, and Holly Johnson; and his beloved grandchildren Levi, Jojo, Zoey, and Jaz who lovingly called him Poppy.
He was preceded in death by his most adored wife, Kristi; his mother, Betty; his brother, Theodore 'Teddy' Martin Johnson, Jr.; his granddaughters, Bria and Mia Johnson; and his niece, Julie Roark.
Brent was cremated so his family can keep him close, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Brent's goals were always to find a good job, get married, buy a home, and have a large family. He accomplished everything he set out to do and more. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, his humor, and the enduring love he had for those closest to him. His presence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his memory will remain with his family always.
We love you so much, Dad/Poppy, say hi to Mom/Grandma for us. Please take care of each other until we see you again.
