Listen to Obituary

LaVon Bleazard Johnson, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend to so many passed away peacefully in her sleep - just as she always hoped - comfortable, pain-free, and stubbornly on her own terms. She would have been 92 years old on June 5, 2026.

Born in 1934 to Joseph Daniel Bleazard and Eudora Jersuha Webster Bleazard, LaVon was the only daughter in a house full of boys. It was there she developed the grit, humor, and resilience that would define her life. She once dreamed of becoming a nurse, but life had other plans. Still, she spent her years tending to cuts, bruises, broken hearts, and half the neighborhood's children, who she loved proudly and fiercely.

In 1962, she married Fred R. Johnson, later divorced in 1975, but they remained lifelong friends. She raised six children - and so many others who found their way into her home. Kids, grandkids, neighbors, strays, and pets all knew they were welcome. Her door was always open, and her table always had room for one more.

LaVon enjoyed reading, crafting, juicing, baking, camping, fishing, and being outdoors. She also loved playing games - whether it was cards with friends, a bingo social she helped host for years, or a lively round of Yahtzee. The sound of rolling dice or shuffling cards was a familiar lullaby as her kids would fall asleep, too.

Her memory will live on through her brother Byron Bleazard (Jean) of West Valley City, her sons Danny Joe, John (Patty), Ray (Joni), daughters Debra and Cindy, 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, along with many friends and extended family members. LaVon was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Darrelann, and brothers Walt and Jim. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her warmth, her stubbornness, and her unforgettable stories.

Her family extends our heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of Copper Ridge Care Center for the kindness, care, and friendship they offered her in her final years - especially Joelle, Mav, and the remaining 3 ladies of the 4 Musketeers who held a special place in her heart.

Please join us in celebrating her life on May 30, 2026, at McDougal Funeral Home at 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. There will be a viewing prior to the service starting at 10 AM and the funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.

LaVon lived a long and beautiful life, and now she lives one to the fullest - free from pain, free from loneliness, and reunited with those she loved. Her life mission is complete, but she will still be watching over us all.
