Larry Joe Bench
July 23, 1955 - August 2, 2025

Larry Joe Bench, age 70, passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2025, in West Jordan, Utah. Born July 23, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Larry was the second of five children to Dean and Coleen Bench.

Larry graduated from Kearns High School and went on to build a life defined by dedication-to his family, his work, and his passions. He married the love of his life, Linda, in 1975. Together, they shared a 50-year journey marked by deep love, unwavering support, and countless memories. Linda survives him.

He was a proud father to his two sons, Dustin Bench (married to Amanda Bench) and Ryan Bench, and father-in-law to Nicole Bench. Larry's greatest joy came from being "Grandpa" to Keegan, Hudson, Maddox, and Jameson, who were the light of his life. His family was his world, and his most treasured moments were spent with them-especially outdoors, whether on the lake or hunting in the mountains he loved so much.

Throughout his life, Larry exemplified the value of hard work. He could fix anything, hated re-works, loved job lists, and could MacGyver his way through any challenge. He began his career as a journeyman meat cutter before returning to school to become a certified Heating and Air Conditioning Technician. Later, he joined General Electric Transportation - Mining Division, where he piloted the off-highway electric propulsions systems as an Area Manager and built lasting friendships across the world. He never visited a place without making a new friend.

Larry was passionate about the great outdoors. He loved hunting in Wyoming with family and close friends, boating, fishing, and riding ATVs across Wyoming's many landscapes. He was known for finishing what he started, teaching his children the importance of perseverance and earning your way through life. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, quirky nicknames, "words of the day," and deep love for his family.

Larry is survived by his wife Linda; his sons Dustin (Amanda) and Ryan; his grandchildren Keegan, Hudson, Maddox, and Jameson; his sister Julie Hope (Monty); his brother Michael Bench (Heather); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Coleen Bench, and brothers Steven Bench and Tim Bench.

Private services are being held for his immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, an organization that reflects Larry's love for the outdoors and his time in nature with those he loved most.

This man was one of a kind and will be missed tremendously by all who knew him.
