Kenneth Clifford (Bud) Shosted
March 6, 1935 - July 1, 2025
July 1st was a great and exciting day. My husband and sweetheart, Bud, finally joined me after being separated for just over two years. Bud passed away peacefully at our home, surrounded by his devoted family, precisely as he wished. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday in March. I know he was lonely without me because I really missed him too. Bud and I were married on March 10, 1955 and sealed our eternal companionship in the Jordan River Temple on September 18, 2009. We were blessed with three children, Vaughn, Shelley and Stacy, who were the center of our lives.
Even though Bud didn't complete a formal education, his industrious spirit and dedication ensured our family was always well-provided for. He often held two jobs, continuously striving for self-improvement and possessed a unique talent, capable of not only designing but also flawlessly constructing projects with his own two hands.
After working at Tooele Army Depot and various other jobs, Bud dedicated the remainder of his professional life to Kennecott. He started as a laborer, quickly distinguishing himself as an exceptionally skilled welder. Recognizing his outstanding leadership abilities, the company promoted him to a management position, from which he retired in 1994.
Bud's life was enriched by numerous hobbies. Early in our marriage we began building campers for our family vacations. He meticulously crafted eleven such campers, the last one completed in 1976 at our new home. These "B & J Hide-A-Way" campers, named for Bud and Janet, were renowned for their superior construction.
As a welder, many of his early projects involved steel, transitioning later to wood. His resourcefulness was legendary; he could fix nearly anything that, as he would say, "went junk," saving considerable money on home repairs. His hands were his most valuable tools, and he extended his skills to friends, neighbors, and family, generously performing repairs and projects. Even in the month before his passing, he could be found in his garage, diligently working on something.
Together, we made the best out of our lives. We enjoyed many years of boating, creating cherished memories with our children on lakes throughout the state, including several memorable trips to Lake Powell. Later, after selling our boat, summers were spent at our canyon property, reveling in the great outdoors. We also shared a love for hunting and fishing, and treasured time spent with family and friends, truly living a fabulous life.
In addition to our three children, Bud and I were blessed with five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, who lovingly referred to us as Nanny and Pipe. We adore each and every one of them.
Upon Bud's passing, we experienced a tender reunion with our daughter Stacy, who passed away in 2007, and Stacy's son Cody, who passed away in 2011. We also had a joyous reunion with Bud's two younger brothers, Dick and Sterling, and his Mom as well as both of Bud's Dads.
Left behind to carry on is our son Vaughn and his wife Nancy, our daughter Shelley and her husband Guy West, as well as his brother Steve and his wife Laura.
