Kathy Snyder

April 8, 1949 — September 23, 2022

Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Kathy Olson Rockhill Snyder passed away unexpectedly at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 23, 2022.

Kathy was born April 8, 1949, to Darrell Oscar Olson and Alice Margaret Phizacklea Olson. She grew up in Midvale, Utah in a very close-knit family with seven brothers and sisters who loved her dearly and maintained their close friendship throughout their lives. Kathy graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1967.

She married William D. Rockhill with whom she had her two sons, Jason William, and Jon Damon Rockhill; later divorced. She met and married the love of her life, Raymond C. Snyder, and they were together for more than 30 years, until his death in 2015.

Kathy retired after working for many years as a loan processor for several companies in the Salt Lake City area.

Kathy was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed the novels of Dean Koontz and Stephen King, as well as television series featuring crime and mysteries. She enjoyed scrapbooking, and often met with her sisters to work on projects together. Kathy spent hours sewing intricately decorated Christmas stockings for members of her family. She found pleasure in decorating her home with some of the ceramics she created. She and Ray loved camping together, hosting their annual New Year's Eve party and traveling in their RV.

But her greatest joy came from being with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was very proud of them and their accomplishments. Kathy made family a priority by always attending family gatherings where she was able to visit with them, along with her siblings, nieces, and nephews.

As a single mother for many years, Kathy worked diligently to support and care for her two boys. She was a devoted mother who always put her children first. Kathy was a kind, sweet and loving person, who was always willing to drop everything to help anyone in need anytime, day or night. She was caring and compassionate and loved by everyone who knew her.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray; sister Linda Olson Hale; brother Gary Olson; brother-in-law Jack Hale; and nephew John Anthony Varoz.

Survived by her two sons, Jason William Rockhill and Jon Damon (Melissa) Rockhill; step children, Dennie (Mary) Snyder, Scott Snyder, Tara (John) Parkinson; brothers Larry (Nina) Olson, James (Vicki) Olson; sisters Barbara (George) McNerney, Diane (Daniel) Varoz, Jean (Stephen) Ferguson; sister-in-law Shelley Olson; grandchildren Allison (Branden), Mia (Peter), Dean, Shea (Allie), Kolbie, Averie, Baxlie, Abbie, Spencer, Ethan, Mollie, Todd, Heather, Trista (Nate), Zachary, and Drake, as well 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and BFF Maurine Moore.

Kathy, we will dearly miss you. Our family will not be the same without you, but you will remain safely in our hearts until we can be together again.
