Judith Hutchings

January 19, 1942 — January 22, 2023

Judy Annette Hutchings passed away peacefully on January 22, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

She was born January 19, 1942 to Reid Jewkes Bailey and Carrie Beth Allred Bailey in Mt. Pleasant, UT. She married Byron Wallace Hutchings January 25, 1958 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple January 22, 1971.

After raising her 3 children in Kearns, UT, Judy had a very successful career at UPS in the phone center and then management where she helped set up new computer systems around the country. She made a lot of lifelong friends at UPS and continued to go to lunch every Thursday with the "lunch bunch" long after retiring.

Judy was always ready to try new things like running her first marathon at age 55. She loved camping and being up in the mountains with her family. She loved to travel, go on road trips and explore new places. Judy was always the unofficial tour guide for anyone that traveled with her as she had a talent for organizing trips and experiencing as many things as possible.

Cooking was another talent that she enjoyed as she hosted Sunday dinner every week and holiday parties where she made special desserts like homemade pumpkin pie and her famous Christmas pudding.

Judy loved to serve and held many callings over the years in the LDS church. She was the Compassionate Service Leader for many years and also loved working with the youth where she was the girls camp director and camp cook for Trek.

Judy was truly the matriarch of her family, a leader and always full of wisdom. She loved her family, her grandkids and her friends and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Dean (Cindy) Hutchings; daughter, Kami (Brent) Baldwin; sisters Kandy Burke, Leslee Bailey; brother Steve (Patsy) Bailey; Grandkids, Macade, Jessica, Shaylyn, Karson, Gavin, Brooke, Nate, Sala, Travis, Trevor, Morgan, Jennifer, Tyler, Nick, Emily, Jamie; and thirty great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by husband, Byron W. Hutchings; son Randy Hutchings; brother-in-law Gayle Burke; father Reid Bailey; mother Carrie Beth Bailey; sisters Susan Morgan, Dorothy Griffiths; great-grandson Jayson Hutchings.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at the Bennion 2nd Ward, 5775 South 2700 West, Taylorsville, Utah. Viewings will be held Wednesday, January 25, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood road and again Thursday, 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
