Joyce Nelson Holder, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on April 27, 1929, in Burley, Idaho to Leo James Nelson and Lillie Magdalena Johnson. She passed away on October 17, 2026, leaving behind a family who will cherish her memory and the love she shared throughout her life.

On February 28, 1951, Joyce married the love of her life, Ralph Carlisle Holder, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they built a life and raised three children: Shauna Rae Herren (Carl, deceased), Denece Checketts (Rex), and Marlin Ralph Holder. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Virginia, and her loving husband, Ralph.

Joyce and Ralph served faithfully in the Jordan River Temple, sharing their devotion and commitment to their faith. Their temple service was an important part of the life they built together.

Joyce enjoyed playing golf and dancing, especially square dancing, and she had a special talent for making beautiful afghans. Through her creativity and the time she spent doing the things she loved, she made memories and shared gifts that her family will treasure. She worked for the law firm of King and Isaacson for over 35 years.

Her family grew to include 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, each part of her lasting legacy of love she and Ralph created. Joyce will be remembered with affection by those whose lives she touched, and her memory will continue to live on through the generations of her family.

We would like to express thanks to Beehive Homes and Solace for their loving care of mom.

The family will carry Joyce in their hearts and be grateful for the years, memories, and love they shared.
