Joseph Edwin Grange, KD7EOC
Joseph Edwin Grange passed away on April 18, 2023, of heart failure. He was born to Clifford and Anna Josephine Grange. Joe was 87, but he was also 23 at the same time.
His father, Clifford Grange, taught Joe how to work with wood at the age of 8. Joe became a journeyman carpenter who worked with wood all his life. Joe built homes and buildings for companies in Utah, Idaho, and Nevada. He had his own Construction company. He worked at Chevron Refinery and Merit Medical. He made toys and carved ornaments and leaves for those he loved. If you did not get one, it was only because his big strong hands became too weak to carve.
Joe was raised with five brothers and two sisters: Sam (Faye), Del (LaRae), Norma (Dale Ballantyne), Molly (Ted), Paul (Esther), and Wendel (Dorothy) Grange. Only Paul and Esther and Wendel survive him.
In 1956, Joe married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Kaye Gailey. Joe and Carolyn had 8 children: Cheryl, Cindy (Richard Coker), Richard (Mindy), Debbie (Jim), David (Linda), Sherry (Kelly Christensen), Joe, Jr., and Jeff. Joe and Carolyn have 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Carolyn, Sherry, Little Joe, and Jeff preceded him in death.
Joe married Mary Jane Hartman after Carolyn's death. Her daughter, Pamela, was sealed to Joe and Mary Jane. Pamela preceded Joe in death. Joe and Mary Jane have cared for her four children, Skyler, Matthew, Mariah, and Dallen. They have 4 great-grandchildren. Joe had many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Joe was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in scouting, emergency preparedness, and Family History. He was Bishop of Redwood Second Ward. He cared for the bees at two church farms. Joe discovered that topical honey eases neuropathy in diabetics. He was a cook in the Utah Fife and Drum Corps.
Joe and Mary Jane wish to thank the Pattison family and Bruce Davis for their kind care and keeping. Funeral Services will be April 28, 2023, at 11 am at Westbrook Stake Center, located at 4113 West 6200 South, West Jordan, Utah. There will be a family prayer at 10:30 am.
