Jose Filiberto Sanchez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Llano, New Mexico to Barolin Sanchez and Petrolina Medina, Jose was the third of twelve children and grew up in a home filled with faith, laughter, and resilience.
On December 27, 1955, Jose married the love of his life, Edith Garcia. In 1966, they made the courageous decision to move their growing family to Utah in hopes of building a better life and brighter future for their children. Their 68-year marriage was a beautiful testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they welcomed 10 children and built a legacy that includes 30 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and one soon-to-arrive great-great-grandchild.
A devout Catholic, Jose lived his faith through service, humility, and devotion to family. He found joy in the outdoors-whether tending to his yard, taking long walks, fishing, or camping. His playful spirit and sense of humor were cherished by his grandchildren, who fondly remember the mischievous Spanish phrases he taught them.
Jose is survived by seven of his children: Eva Jacquez, Wilma (Cruz) Vasquez, Arnold (Cindy) Sanchez, Steve Sanchez, Teresa Sanchez (Paul Brown), Danny (Frances) Sanchez, and Cathy (Todd) Orullian. He is also remembered by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Edith; favorite dog, Goldie; daughters Mary, Pauline, and Peggy; grandsons Jeremy Jacquez and Preston Sanchez; and son-in-law LeRoy Jacquez.
