John Rushton Squire, fondly known as "Jack," was born on June 20, 1934, in Hunter, Utah to Oliver Rulon Squire and Grace Rushton. Jack passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, in Mesa, Arizona surrounded by his loving family.
During his military service in France, Jack met his first wife, Nicole Nivoy. Together they had five children: Nancy, Gary, Karen, Dwayne, and David. Later, Jack found love again with Gerrie Lyn Jones, with whom he welcomed three more children: Lynn, D'Ann, and Sheri. He is survived by his wife Gerrie Lyn, his sister Yvonne and all eight children. Preceded in death by his other siblings: Deleen, Lee, Wanda, and Don. He has 23 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren - a legacy that brought him immense pride and joy.
Jack dedicated 41 years to the Army & Army National Guard, serving full-time until his retirement. Not one to stay idle, he went on to work as a teacher's aide in the woodshop at West Jordan High School for 15 more years, where his hands-on skills and good humor made him a favorite among students and staff alike.
An avid camper, Jack delighted in summers spent traveling in his beloved motorhome, affectionately nicknamed "Moto." His booming voice, hearty laugh, and his sense of humor were the soundtrack of many family gatherings. Known for his teasing nature and signature sayings - lovingly memorized by his children and grandchildren - Jack had a special way of making those around him smile.
Jack's presence was a source of laughter, warmth, and steadfast love. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the countless memories and stories shared by the family and friends who were lucky enough to know him.
