John Alden Henninger

September 24, 1933 — June 17, 2021

John Alden Henninger, 87 years old of Taylorsville, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2021 following lengthy Hospice care. John was born September 24, 1933 in Lyman, Wyoming to Oscar and Myrtle Henninger, the second of ten children.

Growing up in the Salt Lake avenues, John graduated early from East High School, and received his private pilot license.  At age 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving for 4 years in the Korean War.  He worked in a printshop as a photolithographer and plate-maker, microfilm technician and offset cameraman.  He was employed at Hercules for 35 years.

Hobbies consisted of bird watching, flying model airplanes, motorcycling, competitive small bore rifle and pistol shooting, reloading ammunition, listening to music, and photography.  He became an adept artist in ceramic sculpture painting.  

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, John was ordained as a Seventy and High Priest. He served as Ward Clerk, Elders Quorum Secretary, and also served 4 years in the Jordan River Temple.  

Survived by his wife, Karen (Jensen), his five children Ted, David, Kelly, Mark, and Katrina, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, and two brothers.

Family Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 22 at 10:00 am at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.  Interment at the Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls, Idaho, will be held at approximately 3:00pm.
